A Milestone achieved: Plastic Pirates datasets published on Zenodo

We proudly announce the publication of two Plastic Pirates datasets on Zenodo – an open-access data platform that enables researchers to share and preserve datasets, publications, and software. The data have been collected by schoolchildren across Europe between 2022 and 2024.

Plastic Pirates in Nova Scotia

The Plastic Pirates set sail for new shores and discover the impact of plastic pollution in Nova Scotia, Canada. Over 200 schoolchildren became citizen scientists, investigating plastic and litter pollution in Nova Scotia’s lakes and coastal waters as part of the Plastic Pirates project. Their findings reveal insights into environmental pollution.

Plastic Pirates General Assembly

For the upcoming Plastic Pirates General Assembly we will meet up in Brussels on 8 and 9 April. Most important topic will be the future of the Plastic Pirates. Stay tuned for the outcomes.

EXPO 2025

The EXPO 2025 takes place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 in Osaka, Japan. We proudly announce that the Plastic Pirates are among of the projects to be showcased at the EU pavilion in Osaka. Find out everything about the EXPO

European Maritime Day 2025

The EMD is the annual event during which Europe’s maritime community meet to network, discuss and outline joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy. The EMD 2025 will take place on the 21 to 23 May 2025 in Cork, Ireland. More information

ABOUT US

Plastic Pirates - Go Europe! is a European CitizenScience campaign in which school classes and youth groups collect plastic samples at streams and rivers and document their results. The collected data is being analyzed by scientists.
